Judgment, Christianity, and Michael Jackson.

People are quick to forget the kind of childhood Jackson had... which was no childhood at all. Jackson said so himself. And when a child is not allowed to be a child, it screws them up badly. Makes them not act appropriately in various situations.

The bottom line is: if Jesus, even as he hangs slowly dying, can forgive all those who lied about him, spit on him, beat him to hamburger, nailed him to a cross (naked), fed him vinegar, and took his minimal belongings for themselves, then it behooves us to always forgive our trespassers wherever and whenever we can.

I feel truly sorry for people who are unable to let go of their hate. It really holds a person back.

Excellent post, GS.
OMG. I couldn't even read that transcript, G_S.

Literally.

I wish someone would just pull the plug on shows like the one you're talking about - and all the celebrity-focused "entertainment" shows, too. Gah!

Hello to you from me and Hetta!

We're with you. One of my favorite bands, Rush, put it well, too: "So busy with what is right, you can't see what is good."

The last many years have been a journey of change for me in my thinking along these lines. The Right is mostly concerned with being "right", to the extent that they fail to recognize what it means to be a Christian, i.e., exemplifying the fruit of the Spirit. Hmm, I see that kind of fruit usually OUTSIDE of the church, and often among folks who wouldn't be allowed in a lot of churches.

Amen.
