Frustration in Chicago
Ok, so last Thursday I dragged my friend Dawn to Chicago with me.
Our trip had 4 aims.
1. Visit the British Consulate to make sure I was on the right track visa wise.
2. Visit Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder Co to try their famous bowl of pizza
3. Spend quality time.
4. Pick up some Lucid for Dawn and her beloved.
Well.
To sorta quote Jack Nickleson, one outta four ain't bad.
2. Closed until evening. No lunches available. Had to settle for Gino's East. Good pizza, just sad we missed the experience.
3. CHECK!
4. Apparently the place that Dawn found on line to sell us the stuff doesn't sell to the public. We found that out after going around the block like 4 times.
1. So apparently the Consulate became closed to the public back in November. Something not mentioned on the web site. Worse than that. I found out that the Visa I was going to apply for I'm not eligible for. I was referred to another web site that supposedly was more help, but was even less. The handy 'which visa should you apply for' web tool did absolutely nothing for me. I've had to contact the fam to have them go visit the home office in the UK and see what it is that I'm to apply for, and how to go about doing it. I might have to get a lawyer. GRR. More expense. VERY VEXING. And now, for the next little bit, I can do nothing but wait to hear what happens with my Dad's trip to the home office. The lack of being able to do anything really pisses me off. I feel back at square one.
The good news...and there is a bit, is that I didn't spend 1200 on the visa application of the wrong visa. I would have been denied, and would have been out that 1200, which would have sucked bunnies.
So that was my day.
Did go to caravan beads though. That was fun.
