Big D is ruining my mojo!
I'm a first born, I'm highly competitive.
Yes.
Sadly I am.
I admit it freely.
My younger brother and I are in many ways a lot alike. We have similar personalities. We don't agree on everything, but we keep fairly symbiotic relationship going. We co-exist well (even though I did dress him up as a girl when we were kids).
Things are changing, and I'm not coping well.
He has a far better job than me, and is a big success.
He has a good network of single friends (which I envy)
He is better off financially.
He lives in Hove (the UK which I envy)
He is on the path to dual citizenship.
He is really growing, faith-wise, and really being recognized and used in his church. ( I will not dignify my vexedness at the disparity between me and him on this one with words, as they would be uncouth, and necessitate a mouth enema)
He has lost over 80 lbs in the last 4 months, and really transformed the way he looks (I have my own issues with the diet plan and the rapidity of the weight loss, but that doesn't stop me from being envious)
All of these have been niggling around in the back of my head for a while, but they all came to a head today.
Today is our sister Bethany's birthday. (by the way go say hi and wish her a happy day. blond_sister is 32 today)
I called to wish her a Happy Birthday and this is how she answered the phone.
"I'm Gobsmacked! I can't believe that Dave called to wish me a Happy Birthday before you did!"
GRRRRRR!
Insult to Injury.
I'm 5 hrs behind her in time as I'm in the Midwest and she's in the Uk, but I usually beat him. Not that its a competition or anything, but I usually remember to call first. Today he got the heads up on me. Again.
I've about had it.
Having more hair that he does can't be the only thing I do better than him.
It just can't be.
Who stole my Big Sister Mojo?
Can I have it back?
Please?
I'm begging here!
Throw me a friggin' bone!

I prefer you to all other members of your family. (And to most people in general.)
There. You win. :)
Jeeze, that brother HAS become a force to be reckoned with! However... I'll just bet you have a superior collection of cool American friends to his funny-talking ones, not to mention a killer collection of purses and shoes… the likes of which he can only dream of.
AND, let us not forget the amazing red curls, seriously, that’s nature’s trump card, I’m certain of it!!!
But just in case you are not convinced...
remember my dear,
you have OBAMA! *SCORE!!!* You actually got to see him in person! (Oh yeah, that's worth how many extra credit points?!)
Is ol whatzizface still running the UK? uh huh, yeah great... (snore)
OBAMA!! :)
OH, and you have VOX! Even Blonde Sister knows that this makes you cooler than chocolate!
You're tops in my book!
Thanks!
And the purse collection...just wait til you see the posted picture of the display of the same.
And yeah...I think I have a married friend collection that could beat the pants of of his.
Plus some great single friends in their urban caves that will never be beaten!
And I realize that he does, too. But you have the plan that God has for you, the future God wants for you, the way in which God has been forcing your growth in preparation for whatever awesomeness is to come. That is yours, and yours alone, and some day (I believe soon) you will see it fulfilled.
And as for church- LifeSpring could really use you/recognize your gifts/care for you if you ever wanted to come our way. :)
I have seen the purse collection display and the catagorization of books, not to mention the ability to put together colors of wool to create unique clothing outfits for all the little people in your life! And while my cave is not urban, I do have the piano that you can play the socks off of! As for clothing choices, you have him beat...especially since you are the one who buys him the clothing...you said he won't let ayone else pick out clothes for him but you. So 5 hour time difference, great taste in clothing both male and female, amazing friend and confidant, outstanding interior decorator, a woman of passion and most importantly one of the most unique and funnyy people I know...you have him on the run if not beat! Sophie will even give up one of her Greenie's for you and in her book that is WAY better than an BONE!
Ok I feel I need to add some of my own words to this.
Bekki you rock. And you know I have and do and will always value your words and debates we have.
Second with the weight I had to lose it. Mom developed Diabetes and you know that me and her are similar. Was the final straw. Needed to get a hold of things. Also if I want an attractive wife I should be willing to sort myself out to be attractive back in and act of serving her?
Also yes you do have red curls but I have red facial hair that rocks. Lol
I have bought you some good purses as well have I not? All the way from Kyoto, Japan. :)
But being the man of the family in our generation I also wanted to inspire you and Beth. Just as I am having to inspire young men at my church. It is how things progress.
I am turning 30 this year. Makes you think about a few things.
And with the Beth thing.... Here comes the admittance. I only remembered it was her bday the day before and have had no time to get her anything or even think about that. So had to do something. Lol. And I know Bekki would have definitely planned beths present for a while now.
Yep now hurl the abuse at me.
the younger with still alot to learn Brother Dave
In response to Dave, I have admired your passion and your dedication to what you set out to do. While @ Christmas almost 10 years ago in Scotland I was a jerk to say the least, I experienced a gentle, compassionate, contemplative, and competitive man. You and Bekki have an amazing relationship that I have enjoyed observing from the sidelines. Red hair just rocks! You are a cool brother for her and you challenge her often to "vexing point" which is a good thing for her, you are both very lucky to have one another and of course Beth. I enjoy the way you play to one another's positive qualities in a dance that helps one another move forward in many of life's unique areas and events. The pics Bekki showed me this past weekend rock...way to go on the weight!
